Gangnam Style in South Korea

South Korea attracts tourists with its beautiful nature and ancient Buddhist temples, Confucian centers, cuisine and a very interesting culture. But many tourists, especially from Asian countries, visit South Korea in order to have fun, plunge into the whirlpool of club life and shop in fashion stores at fairly high prices. Recently, even a certain South Korean style has emerged – “Gangnam” or “Gangnam” by the name of a respectable district of Seoul, where young people from different cities of South Korea gather to go to clubs. The Gangnam style has become synonymous with luxury living. This fashion has affected many European countries, especially after the resounding success of the song Park Chae Sana (Psy), which has become one of the most famous in the world.

The word “Gangnam” itself means “the area south of the river.” But Gangnam district is one of the most famous shopping and entertainment lovers. Here you will find a lot of shops of famous brands: Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci, Prada and so on. Prices in these boutiques, perhaps, are no different from other stores of the same brands in other capitals of the world. But buying something in the Gangnam area means joining a luxurious lifestyle. Therefore, numerous shopping centers and restaurants, as a rule, are filled with visitors.

If you are a fan of shopping centers, then you should definitely visit Shinseg located in the center of Seoul. Despite the fact that it is the oldest department store in the capital of South Korea – it was built in 1930, it, rebuilt and updated, is also a symbol of “Gangnam”. On the first floor of this fourteen-storey shopping center there is a huge food court and a grocery store. Before you conquer the shops of famous brands, you need to eat a good meal. If you decide to make shopping at night, then in the food court you can eat at half price. Many shops and restaurants work at night. In Shinseg, there are enough stores of famous American and European brands, but since you came to South Korea, we advise you to look at the clothes from local couturiers. In the shops of the shopping center you can find outfits that can not be suitable for Korean girls due to their transparency and openness, but they will look quite decent on European women of the weaker sex, especially since they will get them with a big discount. On each floor of this large shopping center there are recreation areas for shoppers who are full of bored husbands – for too long their wives enjoy shopping.

For lovers of traditional shopping – “something to remember” can approach the central district of Seoul Insadong, which is famous for artists and artisans. In stores located in the area of the capital of South Korea, you can buy such things as tea sets, jewelry boxes and other art products. You can just walk along the street and look into each store, looking at the goods with interest. Worth a look at the store Ssamzigil, which sells products of indigenous Koreans. In this mall, you can keep an eye on traditional Korean Hanbok clothes, products with Korean calligraphy, in this shop under the roof, there is a cafe where you can eat noodles or eat ice cream, as well as watch the life that is boiling outside. The Insadong district is famous among Korean youth. On the main street Garugo-forces, along which the famous Korean ginseng is planted, you can find expensive boutiques and trendy bars. If you want to buy souvenirs for friends and relatives Insadong – the perfect place for this. On the shelves of shops you can find a variety of interesting products, such as alarm clocks in the form of fancy animals, stylish kitchen utensils and multi-colored office.

Fans of Korean culture can be advised to go to Samson-dong. This picturesque area represents the former village of Bokchon, where the rulers of the Joseon dynasty settled their servants. Some of the houses in the area have been restored to their original condition and are open to the public every day. In stores you can buy modern cheap jewelry, bags and various fun accessories. Walking around the area, you can visit the National Museum of Folk Art and have a snack at the youth cafe.

For budget shopping, you can choose the Myungdong quarter, which is the central shopping street in the capital of South Korea. In order to start shopping it is not necessary even to get out of the subway. Already in the subway you will find a huge selection of shops and fashion boutiques, both Western and Korean. If you get lost among the colorful shops, say only the word “Myeongdong” and you will quickly be shown the way to the starting point. This shopping district fits in with the definition of a “luxury lifestyle”. Traders mostly live here, but in terms of rent, this street is the most expensive street in Seoul.
